. I love that Raven feels awkward and overwhelmed at times but her strength always rises like cream to the top. Petty villains, abusive guards, ambitious wardens, and idealist reformers people its pages and vividly trace China's complicated movement from empire to republic to communist state. I have enjoyed reading the manuscripts she has completed and enjoyed even more the one she has had published. She has a job in Paris, a handsome Frenchman, a beautiful bilingual toddler, and an adorable apartment with breathtaking views. I loved the show and I'm glad Mr Buschardt took the time to put the book together. I love the way her relationship with her grandpa evolves and becomes more honest.
